Topic: Adapting to Change in a Fast-Moving World

Part 1: Introduction & Interview (4–5 minutes)

Topic: Change and Daily Life

Examiner: Do you adapt to changes easily?

Candidate: Mostly yes. I usually need a little time to adjust, but I enjoy new ideas and challenges. Sometimes change can be scary, but often it brings new opportunities, especially in tech and education.

Examiner: Do you prefer routine or variety?

Candidate: I like having a basic structure to my day, but I also enjoy when something new happens. The best for me is when I can plan, but still leave space for creativity and unexpected moments.

Examiner: How do you prepare for big changes, for example in school or at work?

Candidate: I try to research everything in advance, make a plan, and talk to people who have experience. I also write to-do lists and try to stay calm and open to new solutions.

Part 2: Long Turn (3–4 minutes)

Task: Describe a situation when you had to adapt to a major change. You should say:

  • What happened

  • Why the change was important

  • How you managed it

Candidate: I’d like to talk about the time when I had to start learning remotely during the pandemic.

Before that, I was used to going to school every day, talking to teachers in person, and doing assignments in the classroom. When everything switched to online learning, I felt confused and isolated. I had to learn how to use new platforms like Zoom and Google Classroom.

At first, it was stressful — the internet connection wasn’t always great, and it was hard to organize my time and stay motivated. But step by step, I created a schedule, set up a study space at home, and learned how to work independently. I also stayed in touch with classmates so I wouldn’t feel alone.

In the end, I learned a lot — not just about school subjects, but also about self-discipline, flexibility, and the importance of communication. That change showed me that I’m capable of adapting even when everything feels unfamiliar.

Part 3: Discussion (4–5 minutes - IELTS адаптация к изменениям)

Topic: Change in the Modern World

Examiner: Why is it important to know how to adapt today?

Candidate: Because the world is constantly changing — new technologies, new ways of working, social changes… If we don’t know how to adapt, we can easily fall behind. People who are flexible can find jobs more easily, learn new skills, and handle stress better.

Examiner: What skills help people adapt more easily?

Candidate: I think critical thinking, curiosity, emotional intelligence, and communication are essential. It’s also important to be open to change and ready to keep learning throughout life.

Examiner: How can schools and universities help students prepare for a fast-changing world?

Candidate: They should combine theory with practice and teach students how to solve real-life problems and work in teams. It’s also important to develop independence and the ability to learn from mistakes. If schools encourage creative thinking and flexibility, students will be much more prepared for the future.
