Dialogues in Tourism

Introductory Speech by the Guide

Welcome to our gastronomic tour of Rome! Today, we will visit one of the most authentic and picturesque parts of the city – Trastevere or the Jewish Quarter. We will enjoy the diverse flavors of Roman street food, sampling delicacies such as supplì, pizza, cured meats, and, of course, the famous Roman gelato.

If you chose Trastevere, our tour will begin at the scenic Tiber Island. We will walk through narrow streets filled with life and history, learn about the legends and traditions of this area, and, of course, taste the most delicious local dishes.

For those who chose the Jewish Quarter, our journey will start near Campo de’

Fiori, one of the oldest markets in Rome. We will immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of this ancient district, see famous landmarks such as the Portico of Octavia and the Turtle Fountain, and enjoy the unique flavors of Jewish cuisine.

Questions from a Picky Tourist and Guide's Answers

Tourist: Excuse me, is it true that supplì was invented in ancient Rome?

Guide: Great question! Actually, supplì is a modern Italian dish that became popular in Rome in the early 20th century. Its predecessor can be considered arancini, which appeared in Sicily as early as the 10th century.

Tourist: Why did you choose these particular areas for the tour? Aren't there interesting places and tasty food in other parts of Rome?

Guide: You are absolutely right; Rome is full of interesting places and delicious food. However, Trastevere and the Jewish Quarter are areas with especially rich history and culture. They have preserved a unique charm and atmosphere that we want to showcase through our gastronomic tour.

Tourist: They say that real Roman pizza should be thin and crispy. What kind of pizza will we be tasting?

Guide: Yes, real Roman pizza is indeed thin and crispy. During our tour, you will be able to try just such a pizza, prepared according to traditional recipes.

Tourist: One more question, is this tour included in the price of the Roma Pass?

Guide: Unfortunately, our tour is not included in the Roma Pass package. However, we strive to offer our guests the most affordable and flexible conditions, including the option of free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour starts.

Tourist: Do you have vegetarian options?

Guide: Of course, we have vegetarian options. If you let us know your preferences in advance, we will certainly take them into account when planning the tastings.

Our tour will last 2.5 hours, and during this time, we will visit many interesting places and try a variety of dishes. Let's start our gastronomic adventure and enjoy the flavors and aromas of the Eternal City!
