IELTS Letter on Whether To Go To College Or To Try To Get A Job

You recently received a letter from a friend asking for advice about whether to go to college or to try to get a job. You think he/she should get a job. Write a letter to this front. In your Letter:

  • say why he/she would not enjoy going to college

  • explain why getting a job is a good idea for him

  • suggest types of job that would be suitable for him

Example of the 8 IELTS letter

Sorry for taking so long to write this reply. I was too busy with my work and could find hardly a minute for myself. Anyway, now I am writing to suggest that you should definitely go for a job rather than studying further.

The first thing is that you have already finished a one-year technical course at Polytechnic College of Regina. In my opinion, there is no need to do another degree or diploma. You already have a technical qualification required for finding a job. So, don’t waste any more time at college. On top of that, your classes will consume most of your time and after a few weeks, you may find yourself bored.

On the other hand, getting a job will not only provide you opportunities to do new things every day, but it will also offer more money to support yourself. This simply means that you can pay off your bills and save some bucks for the future plans. What’s more, you can also learn new skills on the job.

I think you should hunt for a technical job as you already have a technical diploma. Currently, such skilled jobs are highly paid and will earn you $30 – 40 per hour. I am pretty sure that it is a good time to start your professional life and to use your knowledge on the field.

Best of luck,
