Relatives / IELTS Speaking task 1

Updated: Oct 4, 2022

1. Are your relatives or friends more important to you?

This is a difficult question for me because sometimes friends become closer than relatives. But on the other hand, relatives are people who stay in a close circle for life, for this they are relatives. Therefore, I think relatives and friends are equally important to me, they all are an important part of my life.

2. When did you last see your relatives?

I saw my relatives a few months ago, we live far from each other. But we get in touch by phone and WhatsApp quite often.

3. How do you spend time with your relatives?

With my relatives, I more often just talk, we exchange news and points of view about the latest events, consult with each other, discuss plans for the future and so on.

4. Are people in your country usually close with their relatives?

It is difficult to answer this question because people from different cultures live in my country. And different cultures differ precisely in how they communicate with their relatives. For example, people of Eastern cultures are very close to their relatives, they often visit them and can do business together. But people from the northern regions tend to be more restrained in communicating with relatives, they live more often alone and not close with their relatives and also do business without involving relatives.
